Adventure Hooks
AX.GAN.14.04 - Adventure Hooks
This file compiles all adventure hooks from across the Andrus catalog. Each entry includes the core hook as written in the lineage's setting fiction, followed by a faction angle drawn from the broader political context of the Third Era. Hooks are organized by lineage family.
GMs should treat each hook as a starting point, not a complete scenario. The faction angles indicate which organizations have independent interest in the same situation — they are not required complications, but they reward groups that engage with Andrus's institutional networks.
For a complete starter scenario with full mechanical support, see AX.GAN.14.03 (The Warden's Report).
AX.GAN.14.04.01 - Anima Lineage Hooks
Aedyn — The Sealed Chamber
The eldest Highwatcher of a mountain eyrie-city has not emerged from her chamber in nine days. Her council says she is meditating. Her apprentice says she never returned from a night flight. The sealed chamber door suggests a third possibility.
Faction Angle: The Ustara Covenant has a sept within observation range of the eyrie. The Chronicler-Legate there recorded something unusual in the night sky on the relevant evening and has not yet filed the observation publicly.

Calri — The Dead Official's Letter
A Calri merchant arrives in town claiming to carry a letter from a respected official. The letter is flawless — wax seal, handwriting, phrasing. The official has been dead for three months. The Calri swears they received it only yesterday from a courier who looked exactly like the official.
Faction Angle: The murder-clan Shinekeeper who employed this merchant is already alarmed. The merchant has now disappeared. The Shinekeeper is attempting to trace the courier without using her normal information networks, which she no longer trusts.

Daza — The Silent Memory Coil
A Daza Memory Coil has gone silent. She was in the middle of transmitting a specific lineage record — an ancient account of something seen in the deep marshes in a time before memory itself was formally organized. The community doesn't know if she stopped because she was interrupted, because she chose to stop, or because the record she was transmitting is itself dangerous. They need to know which.
Faction Angle: The Daza senior coil-families have sent private inquiry to both the Mirelen and the Yusk. The Mirelen have responded with concern. The Yusk have responded with a question: did the record describe what approached Andrus from outside, or what was already here when it arrived?

Kasia — Intercepted Communications
A Kasia Still One has requested an audience with representatives of three other cultures. She offers nothing to explain why. She has sent the invitation through seven separate intermediaries, none of whom she told more than their piece of the message. Someone has been intercepting communications from the jungle settlements for months, and she trusts nothing that travels a single path.
Faction Angle: The Compact Warden assigned to this region has also been trying to reach the relevant Kasia settlement for six weeks. She has received no response. She is now requesting that anyone traveling near the settlement check in.

Kerroshi — The Merchant-Lord's Note
A Kerroshi den has put out a bounty — not on a person, but on a debt. They want an old promissory note retrieved from the estate of a recently deceased merchant-lord before the estate is liquidated. They haven't explained what's on the note. The amount they're offering is three times what they could buy the note for at auction.
Faction Angle: Two Ekhari Houses have independently sent agents to acquire the same note. The den has not disclosed what it contains. All three parties are now aware of each other's interest and the note has not yet been found.

Misa — The Overdue Reckoning Candidate
A Misa pride's Reckoning candidate has not returned. They are three seasons overdue — too long even for the hardest journeys. The pride will not search for them (to do so would dishonor the Reckoning). But they will reward anyone who can find and return the candidate, or, if the candidate is dead, bring back what they carried.
Faction Angle: The candidate's route took them through territory the Kyne Daas routinely monitors. A Kyne Daas band has not reported anything about the candidate, which either means they haven't been there or means they have been there and aren't saying.

Voren — The Compact Renegotiation
A Voren settlement's Stewardship Compact with three neighboring communities is being renegotiated after one of the neighboring settlements was largely destroyed by an event no one will fully explain. The Voren want the compact restored. The surviving neighbors want something else entirely, and someone from outside all of these communities keeps attending the negotiation sessions without having been invited.
Faction Angle: The Compact Warden handling the renegotiation has privately identified the uninvited attendee as a figure she met six months ago in a different context — a context she cannot fully remember, which is not something that happens to Voren. The attendee's behavior is technically compliant with Compact protocol. Something is wrong.

Yusk — The Ancient Warm One's Journey
A Yusk Warm One, by all accounts ancient beyond easy reckoning, has voluntarily left her sun-court and is traveling. She is moving in the direction of a territory that was depopulated several hundred years ago. She will accept company but not questions. Three different factions are attempting to follow her discreetly. None of them are being discreet.
Faction Angle: The Ustara Covenant has confirmed that the Warm One's destination corresponds to a location their archives describe in connection with a celestial event recorded in the Second Era. The True Dragons have been watching in that direction for a week.

Ashari — The Grove Loss Vote
A Hearthspeaker has publicly declared that their hearth will cease the Grove Loss tribute on the grounds that accountability cannot be infinite. Three other hearths have condemned this position. A Kasia delegation has arrived not to argue — they brought something: a seed from a tree species believed destroyed in the original fire. They want to know if the Ashari will help plant it, and they want to know now, before the Hearthspeaker's motion is voted on.
Faction Angle: The Compact is watching this closely. A public breakdown of the Grove Loss framework would be their first major mediation failure in living memory.

Dura'Kai — The Overlapping Ground Claim
A Dura'Kai lodge has declared a Ground Claim — a formal assertion that a piece of territory they have worked for three generations is theirs by the law of stewardship. The problem is that the territory overlaps with the ancestral range of a Kasia coil-family, a claim the Kasia have never formally registered because they didn't know they needed to. Neither culture is wrong by their own legal framework. A Voren mediator has been asked to help. She's brought an unusually large delegation.
Faction Angle: Two Ekhari Houses have commercial interests in the disputed territory and are funding legal research into which framework applies — Compact mediation or Merchant Council commercial law.

Mirelen — The Deep Voice's Silence
A Mirelen current's Deep Voice has stopped speaking. Not through death or illness — she is present, responsive, and appears to be in good health. She simply stopped speaking three weeks ago. Her current is interpreting this as a form of listening so profound it requires silence. A different Mirelen current believes she has detected something in the Long Current that she does not know how to name, and that the silence is not peace but paralysis. They want someone external to the current to find out which interpretation is correct.
Faction Angle: The Daza Memory Coil families have sent a message asking the Mirelen to describe the symptoms precisely. Their oldest records may contain a parallel case.

Zephari — The Fragmented Message
A Zeph'Ari Vane has sent word, via three drift-circles, in relayed messages no single carrier held complete, that she witnessed something from altitude she cannot name aloud. She has split the information into pieces and sent it to four different people in four different cultures, each of whom now holds part of what she knows. She believes she is being watched and that a complete message could be intercepted. The players hold one piece. She wants them to find the others and assemble what she's trying to say before the weather changes and the pieces scatter.
Faction Angle: The Kyne Daas have independently sent an alert to the same general region, in their own compartmentalized form. Someone monitoring both fragments might notice that two different cultures are trying to communicate the same thing without knowing the other is trying.

Ekhari — The Disputed Trade Corridor
A minor Ekhari House has produced documentation claiming senior rights to a trade corridor that every other House, and three Anima cultures, has been using freely for two generations. The documentation is technically impeccable. The senior Council Houses suspect a forgery, because they would have done the same thing and would like to know how. The Anima cultures don't care about the documentation and want the corridor access settled before the next seasonal caravan. Someone needs to determine the truth of the documents before the Council convenes, the Anima lose patience, and a trade war reshapes the political map of the Third Era.
Faction Angle: The Calri who sourced the documentation for the minor House has gone missing. The murder-clan she worked for is also interested in finding her, for different reasons.

Kyne Daas — The Reader's Cipher
A Kyne Daas Reader has broken the protocol of silence and sent a message outside the bands — to three specific individuals in three different cultures, simultaneously. The message is identical in each case, contains seven words that make no grammatical sense in any known language, and arrives written in ash on otherwise blank paper. The Reader is not available for follow-up questions. She went into the deep Reach four days ago and her band is pretending they are not concerned.
Faction Angle: The Ustara Covenant has a partial translation of the cipher used. The Daza Memory Coil families hold a record that may explain why that specific language was chosen. Neither party knows the other is involved.

Sereindal — The Silent Circuit
A Sereindal circuit-community has gone quiet — no supply deliveries on schedule, no waypoint cache updates, no communication along what has been a maintained route for two generations. The circuit runs through territory that three other cultures use for trade access. All three are beginning to ask pointed questions. A Sereindal Route-Keeper from an adjacent circuit has been sent to investigate and has not returned. The trail begins at a cache point where the last recorded entry in the standard waypoint log is a single sentence in non-standard notation, written in what appears to be significant hurry.
Faction Angle: The circuit ran through territory the Compact monitors. The Warden assigned there filed a routine report two weeks ago noting nothing unusual. The Warden has not filed since.

Ustara — The Chronicle-Reading
An elderly Ustara Chronicler-Legate, six months from a death she is facing with characteristic composure, has requested that specific individuals from four different cultures attend her chronicle-reading — the Ustara tradition in which a scholar's lifetime observational record is formally read aloud upon their death. She has not disclosed what her chronicle contains. Her partnered True Dragon, who has been her companion for sixty years and is present for every chronicle-reading, has requested — through the sept's translation scholars, with careful formal phrasing — that the attendees bring nothing made of iron.
Faction Angle: The chronicle contains the Ustara's private astronomical record — three generations of undisclosed observation. What she has decided to share and what the dragon's iron request means are the two questions every faction with a representative in attendance will be trying to answer simultaneously.
